Introduction & Acceptance

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Mangen (the "Service"), operated by Rafał Prymus, sole proprietorship (NIP: 9552277477, REGON: 382482709), with registered address at Przemocze 23B, 72-131, Zachodniopomorskie, Poland ("we", "us", or "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Service Description

Mangen is an AI-powered manga and comic creation studio. The Service provides tools for designing page layouts, creating characters and items, generating artwork using third-party AI models, and exporting finished pages. Mangen acts solely as a tool that facilitates your creative process by integrating with available generative AI models — it provides features such as character and item creation, document management, prompt enhancement, and panel layout editing. Mangen is not an AI provider itself; it is an interface that connects you with third-party generative AI services.

Eligibility & Account

You must be at least 16 years old in the European Economic Area or 13 years old in the United States to use the Service. By registering, you represent that you meet these age requirements. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You agree to provide accurate information during registration and to keep it up to date. You may not share your account with others or create multiple accounts.

Credits & Payments

AI generation features require credits, which can be purchased through the Service. All payments are processed by Stripe in EUR. Credit packages and pricing are displayed at the time of purchase. Credits are non-refundable and non-transferable unless required by applicable law. We reserve the right to change pricing at any time, but changes will not affect credits already purchased. Unused credits do not expire as long as your account remains active. If your account is terminated for violation of these Terms, any remaining credits may be forfeited.

Taxes

All prices are displayed exclusive of taxes unless otherwise stated. Applicable VAT or other taxes are calculated at checkout based on your location and are processed by Stripe Tax. You are responsible for any taxes applicable to your purchases.

Refunds

Due to the digital nature of credits and the immediate availability of AI generation services, purchased credits are generally non-refundable. If you believe a charge was made in error, please contact us within 14 days at contact@mangen-studio.com. Refund requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis in accordance with applicable consumer protection laws, including the EU right of withdrawal where applicable.

AI Services & Third-Party Providers

The Service integrates with third-party AI providers to offer image generation and text processing capabilities. Currently supported providers include:

These providers are independent third parties. Their services are governed by their own terms of service and acceptable use policies, which may change at any time without notice from us. We do not control, and are not responsible for, the output quality, availability, or content filtering decisions made by these providers.

Content Filtering by Third-Party Providers

Third-party AI providers (including but not limited to Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, and OpenAI) implement their own content safety filters and moderation systems. These filters may block, refuse, or modify generation requests at the provider's sole discretion. This includes, but is not limited to, requests that the provider's systems classify as NSFW (Not Safe for Work), violent, hateful, or otherwise in violation of the provider's policies.

Mangen has no control over these filtering decisions. If your generation request is blocked by a third-party provider's safety system, this is a decision of that provider, not of Mangen. We cannot override, bypass, or influence these filters. We do not guarantee that any specific prompt or content will be successfully generated.

You acknowledge and accept that AI generation capabilities are subject to the limitations, safety filters, and acceptable use policies of the underlying third-party providers, and that these may change over time.

Content Ownership & Intellectual Property

You retain full ownership of all content you create, upload, or generate using the Service. This includes manga pages, panel layouts, character designs, item designs, uploaded reference images, and AI-generated artwork. We do not claim any ownership rights, copyright, or license to your content beyond what is strictly necessary to operate the Service (e.g., storing and displaying your content to you).

Mangen is solely a tool. All creative works produced using the Service — whether manually created, AI-assisted, or fully AI-generated — belong exclusively to you, the creator. You are free to use, publish, distribute, sell, or export your creations (including PDF exports) without any obligation to us.

However, you acknowledge that AI-generated content may also be subject to the terms of service of the third-party AI provider that generated it. You are responsible for reviewing and complying with the applicable AI provider's terms regarding ownership and usage rights of AI-generated outputs.

By uploading reference images or other content to the Service, you represent that you have the right to use that content and that it does not infringe on any third party's intellectual property rights.

User Responsibility

You are solely responsible for all content you create, generate, upload, and export using the Service. This includes, but is not limited to, manga pages, characters, items, reference images, prompts, and exported PDF files. Mangen provides tools to facilitate collaboration with generative AI models — you, as the user, bear full legal responsibility for the content you produce and distribute.

You acknowledge that you may be held legally liable for any content you create, generate, or distribute using the Service that violates applicable laws, regulations, or third-party rights. This includes content exported as PDF or in any other format.

Prohibited Content & Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to create, generate, upload, store, or distribute any of the following:

  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any sexualized depictions of minors — this is strictly prohibited with zero tolerance and will result in immediate account termination and reporting to relevant authorities
  • Pornographic content, including AI-generated pornography or sexually explicit material designed for sexual gratification
  • Gratuitous, realistic depictions of extreme violence, gore, torture, or mutilation
  • Content that promotes hatred, discrimination, or violence against individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics
  • Content that promotes terrorism, terrorist organizations, or violent extremism
  • Content designed to harass, bully, threaten, or intimidate specific individuals
  • Deepfakes or deceptive content intended to mislead others about real events or impersonate real individuals without consent
  • Any content that violates applicable local, national, or international laws
  • Content that contains or distributes malware, viruses, or other harmful code
  • Content that infringes on intellectual property rights of others (copyright, trademark, etc.)

Note on artistic nudity: The Service does not categorically block artistic or non-sexual nudity that is common in manga and comic art traditions (e.g., figure studies, non-sexualized bathing scenes). However, third-party AI providers may independently block such requests through their own content filters. Content that crosses the line into pornographic or sexually explicit material is prohibited regardless of artistic intent.

Content Moderation & Account Enforcement

Mangen does not currently operate a proactive, automated content moderation system that scans or verifies all user-created content in real time. However, we reserve the right to review content at any time and to take action if we discover content that violates these Terms.

If we become aware of prohibited content on your account — whether through automated detection, user reports, third-party notifications, or our own review — we reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to:

  • Remove or disable access to the offending content
  • Temporarily suspend your account
  • Permanently terminate your account and forfeit any remaining credits
  • Report the content and your information to relevant law enforcement authorities, particularly in cases involving CSAM or other illegal material

We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of enforcement actions, except where prohibited by law or where notification could compromise an investigation.

Storage & Data Limits

Each account is allocated a storage quota (default: 5 GB). Your projects, images, and other content count toward this limit. If you reach your storage limit, you will need to delete existing content before uploading or generating new content. We reserve the right to adjust storage limits with reasonable notice.

Service Availability & Modifications

We strive to keep the Service available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. The Service is provided on an "as available" basis. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice. This includes changes to features, AI providers, supported models, pricing, and storage limits.

AI generation capabilities depend on the availability and performance of third-party providers. We are not responsible for outages, degradation, or changes in these third-party services.

Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT AI-GENERATED CONTENT WILL BE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, OR SUITABLE FOR ANY PARTICULAR PURPOSE. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU HAVE PAID TO US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Mangen, its operator, and any affiliated parties from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from: (a) your use of the Service; (b) content you create, generate, upload, or distribute through the Service; (c) your violation of these Terms; or (d) your violation of any applicable law or third-party rights.

Termination

You may terminate your account at any time by using the account deletion feature in the Service. We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms, particularly for prohibited content violations. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.

If you delete your account voluntarily, all your data will be permanently removed as described in our Privacy Policy. If your account is terminated by us for policy violations, we may retain certain information as required by law or to prevent further abuse.

The following sections survive termination: Content Ownership & Intellectual Property, User Responsibility, Prohibited Content, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, and Governing Law.

Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Poland. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Poland, unless applicable consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction provide otherwise.

If you are a consumer in the European Union, you retain the benefit of any mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence, and you may bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence. You may also use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through a prominent notice on the Service at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the updated Terms become effective constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service and may delete your account.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Mangen regarding the use of the Service.
